Police have launched an investigation after a man was shoved to the ground on a Birmingham street and slashed.

The man was walking along Monica Road in Small Heath, just after 6pm on Saturday (August 9), when he was pounced upon by two males.

He was pushed to the pavement and then slashed with a knife.

The victim was taken to hospital where his injuries are not said to be life-changing.

A probe is under way and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the attack or saw a turquoise Ford Focus in the area at the time to contact them.

They are also collecting CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage.

West Midlands Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses and footage after a man was assaulted in Small Heath.

“The man was on Monica Road on Saturday (9 August), when he was pushed to the floor by two men and slashed with a knife just after 6pm.

“He remains in hospital, where his injuries are thankfully not thought to be life-changing.

“Detectives have been carrying out urgent enquiries and extra officers remain in the area to offer reassurance.

“As part of our investigation we would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or saw a turquoise Ford Focus in the area at the time.

“We would also ask anyone with dashcam, doorbell, or other CCTV footage from the area to get in touch with us.
