PARIS – French officials have stopped issuing work visa renewals for El Al flight security guards based in Paris, according to a report by Ynet. The freeze, in place for roughly six months, affects Israeli staff working under the ITAN program — a category for Israeli citizens assisting diplomatic missions abroad.

The move has left some guards without legal residency in France, while others have turned to the Israeli embassy for temporary diplomatic visas to remain on post.

Sources told Ynet the change comes amid heightened friction between Paris and Jerusalem over the Gaza war, with some attributing it to anti-Israel sentiment within French authorities. The Israeli embassy is said to be engaging with French officials to address the situation.
