After four years of sitting empty, the final section of the old Merry Hill Debenhams is set to be filled by a new giant venue.

Funstation is set to open later this year, a ‘fun-packed entertainment experience’ set across 23,700sq ft.

With arcade games, immersive attractions such as escape rooms and mini golf and ‘unforgettable prizes’ up for grabs, it’s described as Funstation’s most impressive flagship venue.

Funstation joins Harvey Norman and XF Gym in the former Debenhams which closed back in early 2021.

A ‘brilliantly bizarre’ mini-golf course, Carnival Golf, will occupy the heart of the new venue with two other themed courses too.

Immersive video and VR games will be available to visitors too as well as Breakout Escape Rooms, for family puzzle solving adventures.

Jonathan Poole, centre manager at Merry Hill, said: “Funstation is set to bring something completely new and exciting to Merry Hill and we can’t wait for visitors to experience it.

“From the arcade and escape rooms to the unique Carnival Golf courses, the scale and ambition of the new location is sure to blow visitors away, while creating even more ways to enjoy time at the centre.

“It builds perfectly on the incredible response to our leisure quarter over the past couple of years, helping to make Merry Hill a go-to place not just to shop, but to spend real quality time with friends and family.”

James Miller, CEO at Funstation, added: “With 14 thriving locations across the UK, our new Merry Hill venue represents our largest and most ambitious project yet.

“We’re pulling out all the stops to create an unforgettable experience combining the best of our brands and activities and we are really excited to anchor the leisure offer.

“Merry Hill’s scale, energy, and incredible catchment made it the perfect choice for our next level venue.”

An open date for Funstation is yet to be announced but it’s expected before the year is out.
