A couple hours after winning the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift last Sunday, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot sat in a hall in Chǎtel, speaking to the press, reflecting on a dream fulfilled. She was delighted to have won the biggest race on the calendar, of course, but at that moment, she was in no hurry to try for a second title.

“Because the preparation was so hard for Tour de France, now I don’t see … myself [doing] the same again,” she said, gently stroking the yellow toy lion she’d been given as wearer of the iconic maillot jaune.

A little over a week later, the Frenchwoman has changed her tune.
