HUNDREDS flocked to Chelmsley Wood police station to take a peek into the work that goes into keeping the borough safe.

Officers were joined by the force’s ‘pawsome’ four legged colleagues and other departments including traffic, our dog unit, firearms and drones.

They were displays around personal safety training, how police drones and arrest demos.

Officers from Chelmsley and Smiths Wood were also on hand to listen to local concerns and issues.

West Midlands Fire Service, St John Ambulance were also on hand with displays and stands.

Police cadets and volunteers very helped out on the day and Solihull Community Safety Partnership gaming bus was at the open day for all to enjoy.

Inspector Andy Bridgewater, who looks after policing in North Solihull, said: “We had a great day hosting this fantastic event for the community. It was an opportunity for us to speak to local residents about issues that matter most to them.

“Our officers and staff always put a lot of effort into organising these events, because we know how much it means to the local community.

“A big thank you to everyone who came to visit us and thank you to everyone who donated to Macmillan on the day. We raised more than £500 for a great cause.

“Community policing is at the very heart of we do. We look forward to seeing many of you out and about on our patrols. If you see us, say hello.”
