Cacares, 22, joined the Blades back in February. Prior to his move, he caught the eye playing in Peru for FBC Melgar.
In this latest update regarding his situation in South Yorkshire, The Star claim Dunfermline Athletic have emerged as a potential next destination for him. They play their football in the Scottish Championship.
Speaking after their defeat to Bristol City, Ruben Selles said, as per BBC Sport: “We came here today, we wanted to have a good performance in front of our fans and nothing went on the side that we wanted. There are some technical aspects that we need to improve. But we have some parts of the game, especially after we equalised, where we can use that moment to score the second one and change the dynamic of the game.
“We didn’t, they did and their third goal was a massive factor in the game and we conceded the fourth one too quick. There is a lot of things to improve, it’s not good enough from anyone starting from my side.”

What now for Sheffield United?
Sheffield United will be weighing up what to do next with Cacares. SUFC have until the deadline on Monday 1st September to conclude any incoming or outgoing bits of business.
The Blades will want to bounce back from their loss to Bristol City as soon as possible. They are back in action on Tuesday night with a Carabao Cup first round clash against Birmingham City.
Selles’ men then lock horns with Swansea City away this weekend. In the meantime, the window remains open to bring in some more new faces.
