Justin Crossie | U.S. Small Business Administration
The One Big Beautiful Bill is more than legislation, it’s a promise to put American workers, American families, and American small businesses first. It delivers real tax relief, reins in Washington’s overreach, rewards hard work and brings small businesses back to the center of America’s success story.
The One Big Beautiful Bill locks in the 2017 Trump tax cuts, protecting American families from the largest tax hike in history and increasing the standard deduction for every hardworking household. This provision alone is projected to create 1 million new jobs on Main Street and generate $750 billion in economic activity over the next decade. The bill also doubles small business expensing, raising the limit so that American businesses can immediately deduct up to $2.5 million in equipment and property costs, allowing them to expand operations, hire more workers, and outcompete foreign rivals. By permanently renewing and strengthening Opportunity Zones, the bill will unlock over $100 billion in new investment and more than 1 million jobs for rural and distressed communities.
The One Big Beautiful Bill underscores the SBA’s commitment to strengthening America by empowering small businesses and restoring our self-reliance. Earlier this year, the SBA launched the Made in America Initiative, the agency’s program intended to cut $100 billion in burdensome regulations, promote a skilled workforce, and jumpstart onshoring efforts. This effort is about creating American jobs, rebuilding our supply chains, and ensuring that prosperity benefits Main Streets across America.
Moreover, the legislation supports the return of Made in America by allowing 100% expensing for new factories, factory improvements, equipment, and research and development. These provisions don’t just encourage domestic production – they renew our industrial base and create good-paying jobs for American workers. The SBA is committed to supporting American Manufacturers by streamlining resources, increasing capital access, expanding public and private investments, and reducing red tape. That is why SBA’s Advocacy Office created the RedTape Hotline, so that small businesses can work with SBA advocates directly at redtape@sba.gov or by calling 1-800-827-5722.
In addition, SBA created the Make Onshoring Great Again portal, a free tool designed to help small businesses identify U.S. manufacturers, producers, and suppliers. With a database of more than 1 million American suppliers, the searchable portal will empower job creators to source domestic suppliers to support their operations – which will in turn support American jobs, reconnect our supply chain with U.S-based production, and end our nation’s concentrated dependence on foreign suppliers.
Since January, the SBA has approved over $1.8 billion in loans to manufacturing businesses, supporting or creating over 27,000 jobs across the nation. Over $189 million of that funding benefitted businesses located in the SBA’s South Central Region, which includes Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, proving that America’s future starts with strong local communities. With the One Big Beautiful Bill now law, we can expect to see increased enthusiasm around American manufacturing as more businesses work fervently to onshore their operations.
The One Big Beautiful Bill aims to provide crucial support and resources for small businesses, enabling them to thrive in a competitive marketplace. The legislation will foster an environment where entrepreneurship and domestic production can flourish. Small businesses play a vital role in driving the economy forward, and the SBA is committed to their growth and success.
