“Unpaid Burdens” is the second episode of the documentary “Silent Confessions”, by Sefer Zogaj, a product of Sbunker with transmission on T7.
This episode addressed the problems of women in the labor market.
A worker spoke on condition of anonymity about the difficulties she has had in the labor market.
Thus she was forced to leave Kosovo for Germany.
“I have been here for a year, I came to Germany to work and to continue a new life and to work a new job in different, better conditions since I left Kosovo in extremely miserable conditions.”
“I have worked in bridal boutiques, in large shopping centers and I have not seen any change in conditions or salaries, in every job we as workers are discriminated against, we have been mistreated, we have been abused psychologically and physically, why do I say this because working from 8 am to 8 pm during the season was something out of the ordinary for me, you physically have to stand for 12 hours and in the end receive a very scandalous payment and during the seasons those employers told us that for extra hours we would be paid extra, those bonuses were 2 or 1 euro per hour, but I can tell you that except for the seasonal months we received our salary of 20-30 euros max bonus, which was a very small salary, with all the expenses we had,” she said.
