Wheel Talk Newsletter: Weight of expectations

It’s been over a week since the end of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift but there is still so much to say about the historic event.

Hello, and thank you for reading this week’s Wheel Talk newsletter.

Now we are over a week past the end of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift; hopefully, everyone has had time to take a deep breath. This year’s edition was incredible for so many reasons. From the crowds and the overall impact of the race on women’s sports to the stages themselves and the stories told over a week of brutal racing. It really felt like this was an edition that will be talked about for years and years to come, and we said the same thing about the race last year! Dare I say we are in a golden age of women’s cycling?

First things first

The Tour is one of the most stunning races on the planet, so here are some photos to entice you to maybe see the race in person in 2026:

Stage 2 from Brest to Quimper.Stage 2 from Brest to Quimper.Obligatory sunflower shot, stage 5 from Jaunay-Marigny to Futuroscope-Guéret.Stage 6 from Clermont-Ferrand to Ambert.Stage 7 from Bourg-en-Bresse to Chambéry.Stage 8 from Chambéry to the Col de la Madeleine.Stage 9 from Praz-sur-Arly to Châtel.Stage 9 from Praz-sur-Arly to Châtel.

There is a lot going on in the rest of this newsletter, so I’m going to leave the opening section at that.
