A quiet spell for the Richard Hannon yard has not dented the trainer’s huge confidence in Rosallion ahead of Sunday’s Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville, where the three-time Group 1 winner bids for a change of luck after two near misses.
Rosallion’s neck second to 150-1 shot Qirat in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood is part of a record of one win in 52 runs for Hannon in the last two weeks. There are no concerns from the trainer, though, who has had seven seconds and six thirds in that spell and insists his horses are still running well.
Expectations are high for Rosallion who was made the 6-4 favourite with Paddy Power for the Prix Jacques Le Marois after the confirmation stage. Sheikh Mohammed Obaid’s homebred will return to France for the first time since landing the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere as a two-year-old in 2023.
