Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive with Man United potential opponents for Blues – if they beat Sheffield UnitedThe Carabao Cup trophy.
Birmingham City will learn of their second round opponents in the Carabao Cup this evening – before they have played their first-round tie.
Blues take on Sheffield United at St Andrew’s (8pm kick-off), but the draw for the second round will take place during the build-up to their game.
The tie is being broadcast live on the Sky Sports Football channel, and presenter Mark Chapman will host it from 7:20pm.
Blues are number 21 in the northern section draw and could come up against some interesting opposition should they manage to get past last season’s beaten Championship play-off finalists.
The second-round draw will see the introduction of the 11 Premier League clubs not participating in Europe this season, so Manchester United will feature this evening, presenting tantalising potential opponents.
The Carabao Cup remains regionalised in the early rounds, with the draw split into northern and southern sections until round three.
The ties will take place during the week commencing August 25.
