Bristol Airport is marking its busiest ever summer season, with more destinations than ever before available to visitors. To meet the increased number of passengers and provide a seamless journey, the airport has also appointed hundreds of new employees in a number of different areas, such as retail, operations, engineering, and sustainability. This recruitment brings the overall workforce to more than 5,500 employees, meaning the airport can provide for the increased demand of travelers throughout the holiday season.

The arrival of new employees follows as part of Bristol Airport’s dedication to enhancing customer care and operational effectiveness. Most of these workers are enjoying free bus travel facilities, including the A1 Flyer from Bristol Temple Meads, the A3 Flyer from Weston-super-Mare, and the recently introduced A4 Air Decker from Bath. These are meant to minimize road traffic and encourage eco-friendly means of traveling to work, extending further into the airport’s environmental campaign.

In the past year, Bristol Airport has seen an impressive rise in the number of passengers utilizing the A1 and A3 Flyer buses. Last month alone, over 117,000 passengers and staff used the A1 Flyer, while more than 17,500 passengers took the A3 service. With these services connecting the airport to key locations across the South West, South Wales, and even as far north as Birmingham, public transportation has become an increasingly popular and convenient option for getting to and from the airport.

European destinations have remained popular this summer, with passengers flocking to sunny beaches in places like Palma, Alicante, and Faro. City break favorites such as Dublin, Amsterdam, and Edinburgh are also attracting plenty of visitors. Furthermore, new direct flight routes to Zurich, operated by Edelweiss, and Istanbul, offered by the low-cost carrier Pegasus, have expanded travel options. Pegasus not only provides direct flights to Istanbul but also connects travelers to major destinations like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other cities across Turkey.

This summer has also seen a significant increase in inbound tourism to Bristol, with popular routes such as Milan, Knock (Northern Ireland), Madrid, Dublin, Bucharest (Romania), Sofia (Bulgaria), and Gdansk (Poland) bringing visitors to the region. This surge in international tourism is expected to provide a welcome boost to the local economy, supporting hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality businesses in the area.

Passengers at Bristol Airport now have access to the newly opened £60 million Public Transport Interchange (PTI), which provides easy access to the terminal. The PTI was officially opened last month by North Somerset Council leader Mike Bell and MP Sadik Al-Hassan. As of last month, travelers are no longer restricted to carrying only 100ml of liquids in hand luggage. Now, items up to 2 liters can be brought through security, along with electronics such as laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. However, passengers are advised to double-check their airline’s guidelines as liquid regulations may vary between airports.

While the liquid rules have been relaxed, passengers are still encouraged to empty their pockets and place loose items in hand luggage. Metal water bottles should be emptied before passing through security, and water fountains are available in multiple locations, including opposite World Duty Free, in the PTI, and outside arrivals. Travelers should also place coats, hats, and belts in the provided trays and may be asked to remove shoes. Sunglasses should also be placed in hand luggage.

For parents with small children, the 1 meter height or above will be required to go through the security scanner, while children less than 1 meter in height and unable to maintain the position required will be searched by hand. Parents are advised to check the security policy on the website for Bristol Airport for more details.

In order to have a trouble-free passage through the airport, Bristol Airport advises all passengers to plan ahead. This involves checking in online, arriving at the airport well before their flight departs, and leaving sufficient time for check-in, security screening, and boarding. There are some airlines that provide a Twilight bag drop service the previous day for travelers flying out early in the morning, with free parking being provided in the Short Stay car park.

With all of these improvements in hand, Bristol Airport is maintaining its great travel experience for visitors, making it the perfect gateway for leisure and business travel this summer.
