Mr P. He’s not your typical HR Manager, he’s a rather revolutionary one. He cares about his employees, has zero tolerance policies in all his workplaces, is inclusive and supportive about employees well-being, their life, identity and their salaries. What more could you want?

Well that’s what he likes to show you. In reality, your are just an asset in his capitalistic shtick and he’s a rather sleazy abuser, who truly does not care about the things he says, is completely fine with misogynistic terminology (he welcomes it) and seriously love to cover up his antics and silences his victims.

Mr P from HR is an interactive drag king show, where the audience play a massive part into the production, especially in certain sectors of the show, where the audience were part of a corporate meeting and reading rule books of company policies.

In the show, everyone appears as if they are attending an interview for a well-known luxury retail store called Gayrods (pronounced Gah-rods, as a play around of British retail store, Harrods). Whilst everyone is waiting to be interviewed, Mr P (performed by Izzy Kate Ward), expresses thanks for their interests in applying for the role, whilst giving out a typical corporate group style interview process, with the presentation of the history of the store, and expectations of today’s session.

Whilst Mr P is giving his presentation to potential future employees, he is then interrupted by hiccups of the presentation, where the presentation showcases his dark side, where he is accused of sexually assaulting colleagues, covering up crimes committed, use of misogynistic language and being verbally abusive to colleagues, alongside a secret recording of Mr P admitting to his crimes and clearly having a lack of care and remorse of his actions and flipping out on his colleagues for exposing him.

Getting blatantly caught out and exposed, Mr P then faces a public meltdown in front the interviewers and then tell everyone that they will see them on Monday.

Inspired by their experiences in the corporate world, the show discusses on the dark worlds of the corporate world, where often speaking out against problematic issues in the workplace, especially as a woman and people AFAB (Assigned Female at Birth) and other minorities often face punishment for doing the right thing or even worse, face with legal court proceedings that they are simply unable to afford and so either often face dismissal or even worse, being forced to let the issues slide, which is the worst face people with such traumatic experiences and therefore worsen their recovery.

The show also brings the issues on how much we need to improve care and assistance to survivors and victims, alongside compulsory change to attitudes in workplaces and women in general, where they should be faced with severe legal consequences due to their incompetence.

Overall, the show is an absolute must-see, especially for those attending Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Mr P from HR will be performing at Edinburgh Festival Fringe between 18th – 23rd August 2025, 10pm at the the Space @ Surgeons’ Hall Theatre 2 with tickets costing £12.
