Birmingham Airport has reported its busiest July ever with 1.45m passengers travelling through the transport hub.
The figure is 8% higher than July 2024 and is the airport’s fifth consecutive record-breaking month this year.
Passenger numbers were boosted by the start of school summer holidays and increased frequencies to popular routes including Jerez, Venice and Florence.
Al Titterington, terminal operations director at Birmingham Airport, said: “July has been another record month with more passengers choosing Birmingham Airport than ever before.”
The airport is investing £76m in upgrades this year to enhance terminal facilities and operational efficiency and recently secured £230m in financing to support its growth plans.
Recent improvements include modern boarding gate lounges unveiled last month to support passenger flow and on-time departures. Future developments will include expanded baggage carousels, new airside concessions and refurbished terminal spaces.
Birmingham Airport remains on track to experience its busiest year ever with nearly 14m passengers forecast to travel through the hub in 2025/26.
The airport handled around 13m passengers in 2024 and is targeting 18m passengers annually by 2033.
In July, 90% of passengers are flying within Europe with the most popular destinations including Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Dalaman, and Faro, alongside Dublin, Dubai and Amsterdam.
