Beccles Carnival draws thousands of visitors out each year as the weekend offers live music, market stalls, and a parade of floats decorated to dazzle the crowds.
And this weekend the event is set to reach new heights as a Norfolk pop star has turned his spotlight to the town.
The carnival has announced it has teamed up with Leon Mallet, who appeared on The X-Factor in 2017, to release a new music single about Beccles and the carnival.
But that is not the only surprise that has been unveiled.

Carnival organisers said: “It’s been so hard keeping this top secret we’ve nearly burst but we’re proud to deliver something so unique to our town.
“This isn’t just a song, it’s a celebration of Beccles and our much-loved carnival tradition with Leon’s signature humour and heart front and centre.”
Mr Mallett starred on The X Factor in 2017 where he made it to the Judges’ Houses under the mentorship of Louis Walsh and was later chosen as the public’s wildcard.

Last year, he created a parody cover version of Estelle’s American Boy called East Anglian Boy, which referenced familiar sites around Norfolk, such as Carrow Road, Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile and Prince of Wales Road in Norwich.
The video, filmed at the locations, was viewed millions of times when it was released on social media last summer.
However, the star also made headlines earlier this year for his career in the entertainment industry as a porn star on the social media platform OnlyFans.
In response, Mr Mallett posted a parody song online addressing his latest venture with his own lyrics to the tune of the theme music from classic sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
