The Sixth Form at Horsforth has maintained a longstanding record of success over the past few years, having achieved the highest state school A Level results in Leeds in 2022, 2023 and 2024 – and staff are hopeful that this winning streak will continue for 2025.
“We’ve had another incredible morning,” said Oliver Watkins, Director of The Sixth Form at Horsforth. “We don’t yet know how we rank city-wide this year, but with 39% of our results at A*-A, it’s clear our students have once again risen to the challenge. I couldn’t be prouder of the hard work they’ve put in, and the fantastic team of staff who supported them every step of the way.”
Students will be heading off to top academic destinations across the UK and beyond, with places secured at Oxford, LSE, Warwick, Manchester and many more, as well as highly competitive apprenticeships with leading household brands including Amazon and Hovis.
Standout student stories include:
– Mara Cook, who has achieved A*A*A* and will go on to study Medicine at Oxford.
– Abdullah Sheikh, who has achieved A*A*A*A* and will go on to study Maths at Leeds University.

Another student, Riccardo Iodice, will be taking his studies even further afield, pursuing his dreams of studying Marine Biology in Naples, Italy.
Mr Watkins added: “Whether they’re off to a Russell Group university, starting a hands-on apprenticeship, or studying overseas, our students leave us with the confidence, ambition and skills to succeed.”
