Leeds United are set to bring in Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer after he left Monday night’s opponents, Everton, but it appears Leeds still want more signings in attack.

Calvert-Lewin is expected to sign on at Leeds in the next 24 hours, after undergoing a medical at Thorp Arch. With Leeds starting their campaign on Monday, it appears Leeds are trying to bring in new faces.

The addition of Calvert-Lewin sees Leeds boast three senior options to play up top, alongside Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe. It was unclear if Leeds wanted a new striker on top of that, but it seems they do.

Leeds have been linked with Milan’s Noah Okafor in recent hours and now, a European giant’s captain has emerged on the Elland Road radar. It appears Leeds want to sign Panathinaikos captain Fotis Ioannidis.

According to a report from BBC Sport and relayed by Adam Pope on X, Leeds want to sign 25-year-old striker Ioannidis. A player that shares similar traits to the kind of player Leeds have already brought in.

Ioannidis has 51 goals and 15 assists in 187 games for Panathinaikos and was part of the Greek side that suffered defeat to Rangers in Champions League qualifying. He is not the only striker Leeds are pursuing.

It is also claimed that Daniel Farke is open to a reunion with United States star Josh Sargent, who has already opened his account for Norwich this term. At 6ft 2in and boasting 17 Greece caps, he fits the bill.

This is not the first time that Ioannidis has been linked with a Premier League move from Panathinaikos. Last summer, The Mail report that Leicester tabled a £23.2m bid for Ioannidis, but nothing materialised.

Now, Leeds are keen on luring him to the Premier League. Farke is renowned for preferring a smaller, close-knit squad, so it will be interesting to see how he deals with four options for the striker position.

After 11 goals last season, it is unclear how much Panathinaikos want for their skipper now, especially after missing out on the Champions League group stage. Ioannidis has a contract until June 2028.
