Birmingham is basically a second Ireland abroad at this point. Okay, maybe that’s a bit extreme, but from the iconic St Patrick’s Day Parade to the UK’s biggest celebration of Irish culture, Pairc Festival, you can find Irish charm flowing through the Second City’s streets.
Norton’s, The Old Crown, Hennessey’s, Cleary’s, The Spotted Dog. There are countless Irish bars in Birmingham, too. So what’s one more going to hurt? Located in the centre, the Irish tavern chain Katie O’Brien’s will replace The Botanist on Temple Street this autumn.

There’s no official opening date yet, but we can assure you there’s not long left to wait. Katie O’Brien’s promises “great craic, live music and the perfect pint”—and you can get your hands on a free Guinness when it opens. You will also be able to watch live sports (from Six Nations to the Premier League) and catch local bands on the weekend.
With locations already in Durham, Newcastle, Leicester, Harrogate, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leeds and York, we expect the tavern to lean in on the atmosphere of the Emerald Isle. Alongside Birmingham, it’s planning to open Irish-themed pubs in Lincoln and Barnsley.
