The outsider of the whole field doesn’t seem like he should be to me. OSLO is a horse who normally needs a run to put him right. He’s had a couple of those now, both on the flat and has been okay.
He won this time last year when slightly lower in the ratings, but he’ll love the ground, the way this race is going to be run will suit him and he shouldn’t be the longest price in the field.
I’d imagine JP MacManus and Gordon Elliott can’t believe that KAINSBOURG is still a maiden over hurdles as he’s run some good races behind some good horses.
He finished behind Redemption Day in that maiden hurdle at Naas, behind Ethical Diamond at Punchestown and Jacob’s Ladder at Navan. He was strongly fancied in all those contests.
He won a couple of nice races in France when trained by Francois Nicolle and I am sure they’ll just want to see him getting his head in front. He should win this.
This is a Stayers Hurdle Series Final where Thank You Maam is a very solid performer. He has a very good chance again because, whenever you think he’s beaten, he finds a little bit more and he had a really good run at Doncaster last time out.
However, there’s a lot of pace in this race. A lot of these horses like to go forward and Burrows Hall will take on Thank You Maam, which is not ideal for him.
I’d rather have something that’s going to come from just off the pace, so I fancy the Dan Skelton horse, LAND GENIE, as the one to be with. He’s not badly handicapped, will handle the ground, and the way I expect the race to pan out will suit him.
Next is a veterans chase – I’m a huge fan of these races as it gives horses a real chance against others of a similar age and ilk. DUBAI DAYS is a bit of value in here, taking on the front end of the market.
He loves it at Haydock and has a good record at Ayr, which is a very similar track. With that edge, this should suit him, and he’s not badly handicapped either at 127.
