NEW LONDON, Ohio — The National Weather Service confirmed an EF1 tornado formed in Huron County early Wednesday morning.
The tornado formed shortly after 2 a.m. according to a preliminary storm survey.
NWS Cleveland said damage began at the New London Recreation Area where fencing was blown over before moving toward Grove Street Cemetery. A large tree was snapped there before the tornado moved toward residential areas, uprooting another large tree that landed on a home, damaging the roof.
Surveyors estimated the tornado had peak wind speeds of 90 miles per hour.
This is the 28th tornado of 2025 in the Buckeye State.
