Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle struggles to keep up with his mounting lies next week, when the police ask questions about his connection to malicious Mike.

Vinny’s doubts about his sexuality have left a dangerous string of lies in his wake – so when his fiancée Gabby Thomas pleads with him to report Kammy to the police for assault, Vinny struggles with the tormenting weight of his incriminating fibs.

Then unexpectedly, the police turn up at the scrapyard, leaving Vinny horrified…

“What started out as a personal identity crisis for Vinny has totally spiralled out of control – and could cost him everything,” our Emmerdale insider warns.

“His lie about who attacked him has already destroyed his friendship with Kammy, and now it could put an innocent man behind bars.

“His best bet would be to tell Gabby everything before he ruins another person’s life, but for him, it doesn’t seem that easy. No matter what he does, someone gets hurt.”

When the police ask Vinny if he knows a man named Graham, who also goes by Mike, Vinny’s taken aback. He struggles to understand how they’ve linked him to the assault – until they reveal that Mike’s actually being investigated for extortion.

“Vinny paid Mike to keep schtum about his sexuality concerns, so he’s not only a victim of a brutal assault, he’s also been blackmailed,” explains our source. “It seems that Mike’s been exploiting other people too – if only Vinny told the truth, justice could be served.”

Earlier in the week, bride-to-be Gabby is gutted when she picks up her re-sized wedding rings, only to find out that they aren’t the ones that she chose and have been replaced.

Feeling guilty, Vinny is forced to lie once again and breaks the news to his disappointed fiancée that he carelessly lost the original rings…

“If the police find the rings in Mike’s possession, they’ll be able to link him to Vinny, and Gabby will surely start asking questions. It’s just a case of whether Vinny is ready to be honest about the answers,” our insider adds.

“He should call off the marriage and repair his friendship with Kammy, but only time will tell on whether he’ll continue living a lie.”

When Vinny’s strange, out-of-character behaviour begins to trouble Gabby, will she smell a rat and get to the bottom of what’s really going on with the man she’s about to marry?

And, with the police at his door and his life falling apart, will this new development be enough to finally push Vinny to express his doubts and tell Gabby the truth about his sexuality?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
