The Reds secured progress to the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday evening with a dramatic and outrageously entertaining 5-4 victory over Lyon in extra-time.

While everybody is buzzing about the result, the game was understandably taxing on the squad and Amorim wants to protect his players from the threat of injury.

Ruben has hinted he must now prioritise the Europa League and that could lead to younger players being granted opportunities to shine in the Premier League.

Speaking in his press conference to preview the match against Wolves, conducted on Thursday night, the boss gave this insight into the plans.

“I have to see it, players like [Diogo] Dalot, they are always ready but today he was really tired,” he said. “The guys that are at risk to have an injury, we will try to save them so we will see tomorrow [Friday].”
