Somehow, a The Batman 2 rumor has returned after being debunked by James Gunn.
The Batman 2 is Matt Reeves’ upcoming sequel to 2022’s The Batman. That movie stars Robert Pattinson as the titular Dark Knight, while Zoë Kravitz plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Paul Dano portrays Edward Nashton/The Riddler.
The Batman was followed by a spin-off television show, The Penguin, while a direct sequel has been in the works for some time. It currently has a 2027 release date.
What is The Batman 2 rumor?
Notable insider Jeff Sneider recently reported that Robin was part of Reeves and Mattson Tomlin’s finished script for The Batman Part II.
Gunn, however, shot this rumor down, as he said about the matter on Threads, “Guys, please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about The Batman 2.”
This didn’t stop Grace Randolph from chiming in, as YouTube scooper Grace Randolph is saying she heard the rumor Sneider reported regarding Robin’s presence on was indeed true.
It’s worth noting that Randolph, whose track record when it comes to reporting accurate scoops can be pretty spotty, and Gunn have a contentious relationship, as Gunn has frequently called Randolph out for making stuff up because “it helps her get clicks.” Gunn also once said, “The earth revolves around the sun, mothers love their children, & Grace Randolph will spout bullsh-t.”
That means that this is far from confirmation that Robin is indeed in The Batman 2. Next to nothing is known about the film’s story or plot at this point, and given that the film isn’t going into production until the spring of 2026, it’ll likely be some time before anything is officially revealed about the film.
The Batman 2 will be released in United States theaters on October 1, 2027, from Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.
