With temperatures soaring across the country, Paige Luisa Sinclair is premiering her latest work ‘Elements’ examining the same power of nature and environmental responsibility.

Paige explained: “A lot of my work is about storytelling, but with Elements, there’s a deeper responsibility.

“We’re at a tipping point with the environment.

“I wanted to create something that doesn’t just represent nature aesthetically but makes the audience feel its urgency – the fragility, the destruction, and the hope we share in our relationship with the planet.

“I’m hoping that people realise that we can find the beauty within these things, but they do come with such consequence and they do bring so much sort of impact and force into people’s lives.”

Paige, from Edinburgh, whose show Midsommar picked up Best Young Cast at last year’s festival amid rave reviews, focuses her new production on the four elements Air, Water, Fire, and Earth and their beauty, power, and vulnerability in the face of climate change.

Described as “a chillingly beautiful artwork” that fuses contemporary, hip-hop, and folk dance styles, it looks to demonstrate the gentle whisper of air to the fierce, destructive blaze of fire through dynamic lighting, evocative music, and flowing costumes, each element with a distinct personality and story.

She explains: “I wanted to highlight how interconnected we are with the environment. The dance captures not only the rhythms of nature but also the impact of climate crises, from wildfires to floods, droughts to storms.

“It’s about feeling those forces, understanding their consequences, and reflecting on our place in this fragile system.”

The production is a collaborative effort involving set and costume designer Charlotte Cunlife, producer Eve Wilkinson, and a talented cast including Megan Hayes, Ruby Wardlow, Micol Giovannini, and Elena De Melim.

Paige’s previous accolades include winning Best Young Cast at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival for Midsommar and first place in the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts choreography competition.

Elements is being performed daily at Surgeons’ Hall in Edinburgh from 12.55pm, until 16 August. Tickets are available online.
