Fire crews are tackling a large woodland blaze near Birmingham Airport.

Around 32 firefighters are currently at Farndon Avenue in Marston Green, Solihull, after flames engulfed the fields just before 2.05pm on Friday (August 15).

Residents and people working near to the incident are advised to close their windows.

There are no road closures in place or reports of injuries.

WMFS said: “Eight fire engines and a 4×4 brigade response vehicle are at the scene. Work continues to bring this incident to a safe conclusion.

A water bowser from Coleshill Fire Station, part of Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, is also in attendance, supplying additional water to the fireground.

“Drone operations are assisting firefighters.

“Please continue to keep doors and windows closed if you live or work nearby..”

They added: “Good progress is being made at this incident by crews.

“A fire break has been created in multiple sectors, and this has stopped any fire spread to a nearby railway line and surrounding factory units.

“Everyone has been accounted for, and there have been no casualties or injuries.”
