The seaside town of Tenby in Pembrokeshire, Wales, surpassed popular beach destinations across Italy, Portugal, and Croatia to be named Europe’s most beautiful beach by European Best Destinations back in 2014. Tenby Harbour Beach was named as the best beach thanks to its breathtaking beauty and the quality of its clean and clear waters. The small sandy bay below the stunning pastel coloured houses of Tenby, offers the perfect spot to unwind in its clear blue waters and admire the many boats moored at the harbour.

The beach is sheltered by the historic harbour walls and is located between the charming old town of Tenby and castle hill, making it the ideal stretch of golden sand to soak in the sun and the incredible views. Tenby also has other beaches to choose from including Castle Beach which was previously named as a Sunday Times Beach of the Year in 2019, North Beach and South Beach.

From Tenby Castle Beach, you’ll be able to see the ancient ruins of the town castle and on North Beach you can expect to find small rock pools, perfect for exploring at low tide.

The Tenby Castle ruins, which stand proudly above the town show panoramic views of the coastline.

Meanwhile, South Beach offers stunning footpaths that wind along the cliffs, providing breathtaking views of the coastline.

The lively harbour area is lined with cafes and pubs, perfect for enjoying freshly caught seafood while soaking in the sea air.

The town is a charming array of independent shops, seafood restaurants, a local market and cobbled streets with colourful buildings from the Georgian and Victorian times.

One person from Newcastle wrote on TripAdvisor: “Lovely scenic area, enjoyed walking around the town, beaches and harbour a few times on our holiday here. The colourful buildings are a lovely backdrop.”

Another said: “Sea was out so the boats were high and dry well worth just taking in the view , Tenby is such a picture perfect place.”

Chelsea B, from Milton Keynes, wrote: “Lovely bright colourful harbour, from both the boats and the surrounding buildings, lovely to have a stroll around.”

Someone else from North Yorkshire said about the harbour: “First time in Tenby, such a pretty town and the harbour is picture perfect. The colourful buildings just add to its charm. If you walk down from the cliff there are stalls where you can buy fresh fish from the catch of the day.

“A Tenby must see and don’t forget your camera!”
