A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after “gunshots” were allegedly fired on a street in Edinburgh.
Njanko Njie, 25, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday.
Njie, of Edinburgh, was charged with assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.
He was also charged with possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a controlled drug.
He made no plea or declaration.
He was remanded in custody while the case was committed for further examination.
Njie will be expected to reappear in court within the next eight days.
A large cordon was put in place
Armed police raced to the Hailesland Gardens area of the capital following a report of a firearm being discharged at around 3.40pm on Thursday, July 24.
Officers attended and a 23-year-old man was found injured.
He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries sustained to his arm.
No one else was harmed.
Police previously arrested two men, aged 25 and 36, in connection, however, they were both released pending further inquiry.
Images from the scene showed armed cops and uniformed officers standing guard outside the address near the city’s Wester Hailes area.
The street was taped off by police.
