A quaint Scottish village known as the ‘most picturesque’ in the entire country should definitely be on your radar if you’re planning an autumn getaway.

However, if you’re seeking a picture-perfect location, then St Abbs should be at the top of your list. This coastal gem in the Scottish Borders was previously recognised by photography experts at ParrotPrint as one of the most stunning places in the UK, and was the only Scottish location to make the cut.
St Abbs is renowned for its rugged Berwickshire coastline and abundant wildlife, with a popular walking trail leading to the St Abb’s Head Nature Reserve. The striking lighthouse, volcanic cliff top and unspoiled view across the North Sea will undoubtedly wash away any stress.
Regardless of whether you visit on a sunny day or not, you can easily spend hours on the coastline, watchin and listening to the thousands of seabirds nesting in the towering cliffs.

“Walk back towards the car park and follow the signs for the coastal path/lighthouse. Spectacular scenery all along the 5 mile walk to the lighthouse and back to the car park. Reward yourself with a cup of tea and piece of cake at The Old Smiddy situated just by the car park. A great way to spend the morning or afternoon.”
