The most sought-after postcodes in Greater Manchester where house prices are climbing have now been revealed. The average house price in the UK rose by more than £1,000 in July, according to Halifax.

Across the UK, the average property value in July was £298,237, up from £297,157 in June, which is the biggest monthly increase since the start of this year.

Prices are rising all across the UK for the first time in two years as the market continues to pick up, surveyors have reported.

Whilst the national average remains close to a record high, house prices vary widely across the country depending on a number of factors such as location and property type.

Across Greater Manchester, there are several areas where house prices have risen by a large amount in the last year.

If prices are going up in a specific area, this usually shows that demand for properties is outweighing supply as the area is becoming more sought-after.

Our exclusive analysis of the latest Land Registry data has now revealed Greater Manchester‘s top five postcode areas where house prices are climbing the most.

According to the data, house prices in each of these locations have risen by more than 10 percent over the last year:

M7 – Higher Broughton, SalfordHouse prices are rising in Higher Broughton(Image: ABNM Photography)

Higher Broughton is currently the region’s property hotspot, with house prices having soared by 18 percent in the last 12 months.

The average price you can now expect to pay for a property in the Salford suburb is £308,679.

The majority of properties sold in Higher Broughton during the last year were flats, selling for an average price of £235,639, according to Rightmove’s latest data.

Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £504,800, with terraced properties fetching £289,216.

WN1 – Haigh, WiganHouse prices have risen in Haigh in Wigan (Image: ASP)

House prices in Haigh, Wigan have risen by 17.7 percent in the last year, taking the average price of a property up to £215,781.

Rightmove’s latest data from August says that over the last year, the majority of homes sold in Haigh were detached properties, selling for an average price of £819,959.

You can expect to pay around £302,483 for the average semi-detached home, whilst terraced properties will cost you around £193,333.

Atherton in Wigan currently has an average house price of £208,575, which has gone up by 16.1 percent in the last year.

Rightmove’s latest data says that the majority of properties sold in the Wigan town in the last 12 months were terraced properties, selling for an average price of £152,118.

Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £213,186, whilst detached properties cost around £339,284.

In Firswood, house prices have risen by 12.8 percent over the last year, taking the average property price up to £279,144.

The most common types of properties sold in the Stretford suburb were semi-detached properties, which had an average price of £437,458, according to Rightmove.

Terraced properties sold for an average of £527,500, with flats fetching £375,000.

Fallowfield is another of the region’s latest property hotspots, with an average house price of £257,627 over the last year.

The average price of a property in the Manchester area has gone up by 10.9 percent in the last 12 months.

The majority of homes sold in Fallowfield during the last year were terraced properties, with an average price of £245,411.

Meanwhile, flats sold for an average of £198,650 and semi-detached properties were priced at £314,651, Rightmove says.
