A murder suspect has been charged after a man was found dead inside a home in Hockley.

The man, aged in his 30s, was sadly found dead at an address in South Road, Hockley, shortly after 5.15pm on Friday, August 15.

Police said he had been stabbed to death.

A formal identification is yet to take place.

Ernest Vaska, 34, of South Road, Hockley, has since been charged with the man’s murder.

Vaska will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, August 18).

Police have increased officer patrols in Hockley following the man’s death.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We have charged a man with murder after another man was stabbed at an address in Hockley on Friday, August 15.

“Ernest Vaska, aged 34, of South Road, Hockley, has been charged with the murder of a man in his 30s.

“He will appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, August 18.

“Formal identification is yet to take place.

“We will continue to have officers in the area today to offer reassurance to the local community.”
