Dame Elaine Paige has been honoured with a room named after her at the West End’s Prince Edward Theatre in London.
Theatre impresario Sir Cameron Mackintosh, whose Delfont Mackintosh Theatres own the Prince Edward Theatre on Old Compton Street in London, has dedicated a state room at the theatre to Elaine Paige.
The Elaine Paige Room at the Prince Edward Theatre was celebrated this week with a ceremony hosted by Cameron Mackintosh, featuring with invited friends including Angela Rippon.
British musical theatre star and Radio 2 host Elaine Paige has enjoyed a 60 year stage career in London.
A number of her greatest roles have been played on the stage of the Prince Edward Theatre, including originating the role of Eva Perón in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita, at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1978.

She also starred as Florence Vassy in Tim Rice and ABBA’s Chess in 1986, and as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes at the theatre in 1989.
Elaine’s other London stage roles include Cats, Hair, Sunset Boulevard, Piaf, The King & I, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Follies.
The BBC recently aired Elaine Paige: 60 Years on Stage, celebrating Elaine’s 60 years in showbiz. A star-studded concert celebrating Elaine’s career also took place at the London Palladium in April 2025.
Last weekend, Elaine joined with Broadway star Bernadette Peters to once again host charity event West End Woofs (and Meows) in Covent Garden, London.
In June, Elaine Paige was made a Dame by King Charles in his annual Birthday Honours list.

What’s on at the Prince Edward Theatre?
Currently playing at the Prince Edward Theatre is hit Broadway show MJ The Musical, starring Jamaal Fields-Green as Michael Jackson.
The show announced last month that it is closing at the Prince Edward Theatre on 28 February 2026. There is much speculation as to which show will follow MJ into the Prince Edward.
Also playing at the Prince Edward Theatre today, 17 August 2025, and next Sunday, is a concert version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, starring Ben Joyce, Zachary James, Christine Allado, Dex Lee and Adam Strong.
