A shopkeeper has been taken to hospital after being sprayed with a “substance” during a robbery at a store in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old suffered “serious injuries” when a man, said to be white and of slim build, attacked him before stealing a sum of cash at the shop on Hawthorn Street at about 21:05 on Saturday.

The man, who was wearing a green and grey tracksuit top, orange shorts, black socks and black trainers fled in the direction of Memel Street after the incident.

Det Sgt Greg Turnbull said “extensive inquiries” to locate the suspect were ongoing.
