There were debuts for new strikers Viktor Gyokeres – who started for the visitors – and Benjamin Sesko, who came off the bench for the hosts, while Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Noni Madueke, and Martin Zubimendi all made their bows in their new colours as well. United went close plenty of times to equalising, mainly through Cunha and Mbeumo, who both tested and forced good saves out of Arsenal keeper David Raya, and the Spaniard was beaten by left wing-back Patrick Dorgu, although the Dane saw his drilled effort cannon back off the foot of the post.
