FC Porto attacker Danny Namaso would be a ‘really good’ signing for Birmingham City, says former EFL man Lee Hendrie.

Birmingham City have been linked with a move for the forward, as per Record. BCFC have until the deadline on Monday 1st September to conclude any final bits of business.

Namaso, 24, has been on the books of FC Porto since 2020. He is under contract with the Portuguese giants until June 2028.

Hendrie has told Football League World: “Obviously, there’s interest in Namaso. He’s a player that’s had a spell at Reading, but he’s 24 years of age. He can play in the 10 and can play as a striker. They’ve got a lot of reinforcement in that area, I think, but I know they have been looking for someone who can fit the bill of playing in that 10, who can have that bit more of a creative flair.”

“You think this would be a real big signing for Birmingham on top of what they’ve bought already. I mean it just shows their intent and where they want to go this season, and that’s to the Premier League. Spending the likes of €10m on a player, again, their recruitment has been spot on from last season up to now, so a really good signing and, as I say, he can play in a number of positions as well.”

Birmingham City linked with Danny Namaso

Birmingham City could see Namaso as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined BCFC, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch.

The Cameroon international, who has two caps under his belt, rose up through the ranks at Reading. He was a regular for the Royals at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team.

He was then snapped up by FC Porto five years ago and initially became a regular for their B team. The Reading-born man has since become a key first-team player and has made 105 appearances in all competitions to date, chipping in with 14 goals.

What now for Birmingham City?

Birmingham City have the chance to sign more players over the next couple of weeks. BCFC have been busy on the recruitment front so far in this window.

The Blues were promoted from League One last term after storming to the title. They went up along with Wrexham and Charlton Athletic.

Chris Davies’ side won 2-1 away at Blackburn Rovers over the weekend in dramatic fashion. They have four points on the board from their first two league outings and are back in action on Saturday against Oxford United. In the meantime, they have the opportunity to do some more transfer business.
