Screen and stage star Vanessa Williams has teased that she may extend her run playing Miranda Priestly in the hit West End musical The Devil Wears Prada.
The show is currently booking at the Dominion Theatre to 3 January 2026.
The Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives star plays Runway magazine editor Miranda Priestly in the show, played by Meryl Streep in the much-loved movie. Vanessa originated the role of Priestly in the musical, from pre-West End tryouts in Plymouth, to the show’s successful run at the Dominion Theatre in London.
Vanessa Williams is currently scheduled to leave the show on 18 October 2025, when the first major cast change takes place.
However, Williams told BBC’s Saturday Kitchen last month (12 July 2025), that “I’m scheduled to be finished in October, but I might be staying longer”.
Vanessa also teased a possible extension for the show itself, which is currently booking until January, saying that the run maybe “possibly longer. I can’t announce anything but people are loving it, people are coming, and we’re having such a great time”.
The Devil Wears Prada officially opened in December 2024 at the Dominion Theatre, with a charity gala in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The musical has been doing great business despite mixed reviews from the critics, with strong sales and great audience feedback.
The show is based on the much-loved movie which starred Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, and the bestselling book by Lauren Weisberger, with direction and choreography by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde), and an original score by music legend and EGOT winner Elton John (Disney’s The Lion King). The show’s lyrics are by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, and it has a book by Kate Wetherhead (Submissions Only).
The current cast of The Devil Wears Prada also includes Olivier Award winner Matt Henry (Kinky Boots, The Drifters Girl) as Nigel, her trusted fashion expert; Georgie Buckland (Shrek the Musical, Bedknobs and Broomsticks) as newbie assistant Andy, played by Anne Hathaway in the movie; Amy Di Bartolomeo (Six The Musical, We Will Rock You) as Miranda’s chief assistant Emily, played in the film by Emily Blunt; and James Darch (Mamma Mia!) as devious journalist Christian, Rhys Whitfield (The Phantom of the Opera) as Andy’s boyfriend Nate, and Debbie Kurup (FANGIRLS, The Cher Show) will feature as Standby Miranda at the Dominion Theatre.
Completing the cast of The Devil Wears Prada are Maddy Ambus, Gabby Antrobus, Selena Barron, Pamela Blair, Robertina Bonano, Lloyd Davies, Elishia Edwards, Akeem Ellis-Hyman, Elizabeth Fullalove, Jinny Gould, Natasha Heyward, Samuel How, Luke Jackson, Liam Marcellino, Robbie McMillan, Ciro Lourencio Meulens, Theo Papoui, Christopher Parkinson, Eleanor Peach, Ethan Le Phong, Jon Reynolds, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Olivia Saunders, Kayleigh Thadani, Ella Valentine, Rhys Whitfield and Tara Yasmin.
