DWP, HMRC and Social Security Scotland have announced changes to payments scheduled for August 25.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed Jobcentre Plus offices and phone lines in Scotland, England and Wales will be closed on the bank holiday next week. DWP also announced that payments due on Monday, August 25 will be issued on Friday, August 22.

DWP said: “To make sure people get their payment on a day when our offices are open, arrangements have been made to make some payments early. If the expected payment date is Monday 25 August then benefits will be paid early on Friday 22 August.”

The bank holiday is not a recognised public holiday in Scotland, however, it will affect most benefit payment dates. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland have also confirmed changes to scheduled payments due on that date.

The change will affect anyone with a payment due on that date, including State Pension, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment (ADP), Child Benefit and Attendance Allowance.
