Police are investigating the circumstances of a body found in Leeds City Centre.

A body of a man was found near Whitehall Road on Friday morning, West Yorkshire Police have confirmed. Officers were called before 8am to the junction with Globe road where the man was found deceased.

A large number or emergency service crew attended as a cordon put into place. Fire crew and water team were also on the scene and motorists were diverted away from the area.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At 7.48 this morning police were called to Whitehall Road at the junction with Globe Road where a man had been found deceased.

“A scene was put in place which has since been removed. Enquiries are ongoing but the death is not believed to be suspicious. “
