A Liverpool pub is reopening to customers following a £75,000 investment. The Halton Castle in West Derby, Liverpool, is relaunching this August Bank Holiday weekend after pub owner Greene King Pub Partners and local businessman Mike Bloomberg joined forces.

The investment has transformed the popular pub, giving it a “new lease of life” so it can continue to serve the local community for years to come. Inside, the pub has been fully redecorated and carpeted, along with new fixed seating.

Outside, the pub’s garden has been fully upgraded, offering a relaxed social area to enjoy the weather and drinks. Mike Bloomberg of The Halton Castle, said: “We’re really proud of the upgrades to The Halton Castle. It’s a special pub with a great history in West Derby.

“These improvements mean it’s ready to serve the community even better than before. We can’t wait to welcome customers old and new over the Bank Holiday weekend.”

In addition to being the lessee of The Halton Castle, Mike Bloomberg is well known in Liverpool’s pub and hospitality scene as the managing director of Glasslines, a wholesale supplier to the licensed trade.

The team said his strong local reputation, along with Jon Williams—The Halton Castle’s licensee —and industry experience will help maintain the venue as an important part of the community.

Collegiate FC, a long-established local football club, have partnered with the Halton Castle for the foreseeable future. In the coming months, a series of events will support and raise money for baby hospice Zoe’s Place, now known as Little Lights Liverpool Baby Hospice.

The launch weekend will include a Soul and Motown set by Darryl Isaacs and live premiership football. Greene King Pub Partners operates around 1,000 leased, tenanted, and franchise pubs across England, Scotland, and Wales with independent business partners.

Greene King Pub Partners’ John Auld said: “This investment has given The Halton Castle a fantastic refresh, ready just in time for the bank holiday weekend.

“Mike is a well-respected figure in the Liverpool pub trade, and it’s great to support him in making this community pub the best it can be. We’re excited to see it thrive.”
