Structural integrity chat is par for the course at well-loved, laid-back Peckham pub, The Greyhound. But the crowd aren’t talking about the heads on their pints. Patio Pizza is in residency in the kitchen, serving London-style pizza with crisp bases and bubbling crusts. There are artful dots of whipped ricotta and ultra-thin bases, but this is a pizza place that doesn’t take itself too seriously—see the cheese-pull mozzarella stick and Jax pie that doubles up on meat. We’ve found the margherita to be a touch dry, but you can’t go wrong with the meatier pepperoni and ‘nduja pies, drizzled with smoky-sweet chilli honey.

Food RundownMargherita

It really is all about that base (enjoy having Meghan Trainor stuck in your head on repeat). The Margherita is where that ultra-thin base really shines—it’s the kind you can practically snap between two fingers. We’d have liked a little more sauce, though, as it’s a bit dry.

Jax

This sounds like too many toppings and will likely be the cause of a “three-topping limit” sermon from the pizza purist in your group. But actually it’s a Domino’s meat feast all grown up, in the best way. The caramelised onions bring some sweetness, the mushrooms balance that nicely, and we’re not mad about pepperoni and pancetta together.

Boneless Wings

The chilli honey and gochugaru flavouring is addictively fiery, but, in an exact reversal of the pies, these boneless wings aren’t crispy at all.

Mozzarella Sticks

The best thing about these sticks is the fresh, tomatoey marinara sauce they come with. The sticks themselves could be a touch crispier, but the coating is nice and thin, and the scattering of parmesan on top is a nice touch.
