Another Spider-Man 4 rumor has arrived, revealing new details about Mark Ruffalo’s return as Bruce Banner/Hulk in Brand New Day. The highly anticipated movie is still scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026.
What is Hulk’s role in Spider-Man 4?
According to a new report from The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, fans will see Bruce Banner at “his wits’ end” after he realizes that his worst fears about the Hulk have already come true with the introduction of Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk and Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk. This new detail actually lines up with the previous rumor about the appearance of Savage Hulk, who’s best known as Hulk’s aggressive and deadly alter-ego. The emotional distress may potentially trigger Ruffalo’s Banner to transform into the Savage Hulk.
“Banner is at his wits’ end. With the events of She-Hulk and Brave New World, he realizes now that his worst fear has become real,” Perez claims. “People can become the Hulk, and it really puts a stress on his behavior. That’s the starting point for him on Brand New Day.”
In addition, the insider also teased that Banner’s appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly set up his role in Avengers: Doomsday. At the moment, Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed if Ruffalo would be joining long-time Marvel co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth in the next Avengers movie.
“It’ll set his role up for Avengers: Doomsday, not for another Hulk movie,” Perez shared.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie is led by MCU vet Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also expected to return for the sequel. Joining them are Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jon Bernthal (Daredevil: Born Again) as Frank Castle/Punisher, and Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion.
