The continuing estrangement between Prince William and his younger brother, Prince Harry, shows no signs of letting up. Of course, that is not what their mother, Princess Diana, would have wanted. The fact that they no longer communicate would have likely broken her heart.

Both William and Harry navigated their parents’ messy divorce, as well as Diana’s untimely death. On August 31, 1997, Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris. Of course, if Diana were alive, the situation between her sons might have been different. “There is no doubt Diana would have tried to act as a peacemaker between them,” Andrew Morton, Diana’s biographer, stated.

Meanwhile, it seems that neither Prince William nor Prince Harry will inherit the home where their mother grew up. RadarOnline reported that Althorp House, Diana’s family’s ancestral home, is bound by a long-standing rule. The mansion, which features 90 rooms and is set on 13,500 acres, is currently owned by Earl Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother.

According to the rules dictating inheritances, Althorp House must pass to the eldest male heir. So, Charles’ eldest daughter, Lady Kitty Spencer, will not inherit the home. Instead, her younger brother, Louis Spencer, will receive the estate. This set of rules is common in aristocratic families.

An insider told RadarOnline, “The rules couldn’t be clearer. Althorp has always gone to the eldest son. Charles holds it now, and Louis will inherit next.” The source added, “William and Harry being Diana’s sons doesn’t alter that tradition.”

Meanwhile, the estate is open to the public during the summer. It is also the final resting place of Princess Diana. While Harry reportedly requested to be buried near his mother, his wish was not granted.
