Sheffield United have cooled their interest in Ipswich Town defender Luke Woolfenden since January, as detailed in a report by TWTD.
Sheffield United considered a swoop for the centre-back last winter. However, a switch to SUFC didn’t materialise for the player in the end and he stayed put at Portman Road.

Woolfenden, 26, is under contract at Ipswich Town until the summer of 2027 meaning he still has two years left to run down in Suffolk. He has been on the books of his current club for his whole career to date.
In this latest update regarding his situation by TWTD, the Blades are no longer eyeing a move for him. The report adds that Coventry City have had a bid rejected for him, whilst Stoke City are also admirers.
The Tractor Boys handed him a new deal earlier this year. At the time, he told their official club website: “I’m proud of what I have achieved at the Club and I’m so pleased to have signed a new deal. The last two years have been amazing. I’m just loving every minute.”
Sheffield United have until the end of the window to bring in some more new faces. The deadline is on Monday 1st September at 7pm.
Sheffield United update regarding Ipswich Town’s Luke Woolfenden
Sheffield United could have seen Woolfenden in the last window as someone to boost their defensive department. SUFC have since swapped managers from Chris Wilder to Ruben Selles.
The Blades ended up getting Rob Holding on loan from Crystal Palace instead. They lost in the play-off final to Sunderland at Wembley.

Selles could now do with another option to pick from at the back. He has lost Anel Ahmedhodzic and has a big void to fill in that position.
Woolfenden appears to be settled at Ipswich Town though. They are aiming for an immediate return from the Championship to the Premier League under Kieran McKenna.

What now for Sheffield United?
Sheffield United’s stance on Woolfenden at Ipswich Town could alert the attention of other suitors like Coventry City and Stoke City. SUFC appear to be looking at other targets.
Selles may start to feel the pressure already after three defeats in a row in all competitions. They lost 4-1 on the opening day to Bristol City before they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Birmingham City.
The Blades lost 1-0 away at Swansea City last time out in the league. They are back in action on Saturday against Millwall at Bramall Lane as they go in search of their first three points under their new head coach.
