Meghan Markle is reportedly the reason behind the delay in Prince Harry and Prince William’s reunion. According to Ingrid Seward, who has widely covered the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex’s lack of “duty” towards the monarchy appeared to be the major issue. Senior royals seemingly mistrust her, as they believe she has been “damaging” to the crown. The news came after reports of the duke and duchess attempting to reconcile with his family made headlines. Speculation around the royal reunion sparked after Harry and King Charles’ aides met in London for peace talks.
Meghan Markle’s way of life causing Prince Harry and Prince William’s rift to deepen, claims expert
Meghan Markle seemingly never felt closer to Prince William and Kate Middleton, even after the wedding. Fox News Digital reported that Prince Harry and the heir to the throne have been in a feud because the former believed his brother didn’t treat his wife well. Meanwhile, Ingrid Seward, Majesty magazine’s editor-in-chief, mentioned that the Prince of Wales has also been aware of how senior royals feel about Markle.
“Persistent lack of trust is the main reason why senior royals remain reluctant to engage in reconciliation efforts,” Seward said. She justified their concerns, claiming that they fear the duchess would make the private family matters public. Markle reportedly has “no sense of duty” towards the royal institution and the public. The source also mentioned that Americans, too, share a similar feeling about her.
The “Suits” alum’s family drama, involving her father, Thomas Markle, had put her in a negative light. According to Seward, the people of the U.K. and the U.S. cannot understand that Harry and their kids have still “not met their grandfather.”
On the other hand, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the outlet that the feud between the two brothers deepened after Harry’s marriage. For those unversed, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their royal exit in 2020 and moved to California.
Since then, the couple has shared their ordeal in several public interviews and documentaries, including Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” which added fuel to the fire. Referring to the content, Fitzwilliams told the outlet, “William feels Harry has betrayed the royal family.” His “personal attacks” on the future king in the memoir would make the reconciliation “tough.”
