Wrexham take on Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship this weekend and what is going to be another tough game for Phil Parkinson’s side.

It’s been a tough start for Wrexham in the Championship this season. So far the Dragons have lost both their games with Wrexham losing 3-2 at home to West Brom in the last outing.

But in both that defeat and in the defeat against Southampton, the Dragons have shown some real promise. And on top of that, Phil Parkinson’s side keep on going in the transfer market with reports that Wrexham are close to signing Callum Doyle from Manchester City in an £8million deal.

Though it looks unlikely that Doyle will arrive in time to feature on Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday. Like Wrexham, the Owls have lost their opening two Championship games losing 3-0 against Stoke City last time out.

Wrexham have a few injured players right now, and the latest player to pick up an injury is Josh Windass. Against West Brom, Windass picked up a muscle injury and has since been ruled out for up to eight weeks, ruling out a reunion with former club Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Liberato Cacace missed Wrexham’s game against West Brom with a minor knock, but Parkinson says he and George Thomason are making good progress.

Expect James McClean to keep his place at left-back with Cacace seemingly still injured, in what could be an unchanged defence from the game against West Brom.

Parkinson was critical of his defenders against the Baggies though and so they’ll have to really up their game against Wednesday.

The rest of the team could also prove unchanged with a midfield three of Lewis O’Brien, Matty James and George Dobson, though Windass will obviously need replacing.

Expect club record signing Nathan Broadhead to start in place of Windass and pair Welsh international teammate Kieffer Moore in attack.

Here’s how we think Wrexham could line up against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday…
