Afzal and Amar Khan have set up SureCare Stourbridge, Hagley and Halesowen.

The pair have secured their Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration, enabling them to roll out a range of regulated home care services including domiciliary care, live-in care, respite and holiday care and dementia and Alzheimer’s care. They expect to create around 50 jobs over the next couple of years.

Afzal, aged 38, is an experienced clinical pharmacist who has worked in hospitals, GP practices and within the community and has particular experience with elderly patients and working with people with asthma.

Amar, aged 35, has built a successful career in business despite dropping out of college and currently runs a growing digital marketing agency in Birmingham. He previously worked for Jaguar Land Rover, rising from an apprentice to helping to set up manufacturing plants in India, Brazil and China.

The brothers live in Smethwick, and their office for SureCare, which is a franchise business, is in Halesowen.

Afzal said: ”I’m very close to my brother. I talked to him about wanting to set up my own business and the more we chatted the more we realised how our different skills were a good fit.

”While I have the background working as a pharmacist in NHS and private healthcare settings for over 15 years, Amar has always worked in business and has great creative, marketing and sales skills.”

Amar said: ”We both liked the idea of running a business that would make a difference to people’s lives and providing high quality, personalised care to people in the comfort of their own homes enables us to achieve this.

”We thought about setting up the business on our own, but realised quite quickly that having an experienced franchise partner like SureCare, with all their knowledge, would allow us to get going quicker and more effectively.

”We researched the home care franchise market and SureCare stood out. We liked the fact that they have been around for 30 years but are also still on an exciting growth trajectory.

”I’m looking forward to transferring my management and leadership skills across to the care industry and building a successful company at the heart of the community.”

In addition to regulated care packages, the company is also offering people non-regulated services including domestic cleaning, pet care and shopping.

Afzal added: “We are hugely passionate about providing local people in our area with the highest quality care, building a successful business, creating jobs and becoming an important part of the local community. We want SureCare to be the first name people think of when they are looking for home care services.

“The high-quality services we will be able to provide to clients will enable them to live as independent a life as possible in their own homes, something that will make a real difference to the quality of their lives.

“As we grow the business, we will be listening to the local community to see what other home care services they would like us to offer.”

Gary Farrer, managing director of SureCare, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Afzal and Amar on board as our franchisees in Stourbridge, Hagley and Halesowen.

“We were impressed by their commitment to providing the best possible care to clients, something that is central to the SureCare ethos.”
