An ex-royal butler has given some insider intel on Prince Harry and Prince William‘s relationship with Queen Camilla, after working for King Charles during the infancy of their relationship.

Grant Harrold, who worked with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Harry, and Prince William for seven years back in 2004, has shared some insights into how the four of them got on behind closed doors.

As well as giving his opinion on Charles and Camilla’s wedding day – insisting there was “no animosity” from Charles’ sons – he has also shared what the relationship was like in private.

Everyone’s clicking on…

“The four of them, I promise you, got on so well,” he writes of the relationship in his upcoming book, The Royal Butler (via The Telegraph). “And that’s why I don’t understand what Harry’s said [in his book, Spare], I really don’t understand. Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together.”

In Spare, Harry recalls begging his dad not to marry Camilla, writing, “We support you, we said. We endorse Camilla, we said. ‘Just please don’t marry her. Just be together, Pa.’ He didn’t answer. But she answered. Straight away. Shortly after our private summits with her, she began to play the long game, a campaign aimed at marriage and eventually the Crown (with Pa’s blessing, we presumed).”

Speaking about working for Charles, Grant added that he’s “a very gentle character… Very calm. He works hard and he doesn’t suffer fools. He gets on with everyone. He does get perceived as out of touch and he’s not.” He insists that in the seven years of working for Charles, he “didn’t once raise his voice”.
