David Ungi and a second man will face a trial next year after being charged with affray following an incident on Lark Lane. Ungi, who was listed in court as David Riccio, and Richard Murphy were charged after it was reported a fight broke out at MeatMe on the Aigburth street on July 4 last year.

During a brief hearing at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday, it was confirmed the two men would appear before judge Neil Flewitt KC for a trial on the week commencing March 23 2026.

Ungi, 33 and of no fixed abode, and Murphy, 30 and of Barcdy Caravan and Camping Park in Llandecwyn, were not present during the five-minute hearing.

Paul Wood, for the prosecution, told the court: “We are trial ready.”

The ECHO previously reported that a fight took place at MeatMe, a Greek street food restaurant, at around 1.30pm.

During the incident, a man was allegedly struck in the face by a man with a bottle. The complainant was also allegedly punched and kicked to the chest by a second man.

Ungi was remanded in custody following his arrest and first appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on July 10.

Murphy was conditionally bailed following his arrest before making his first appearance at the same court on February 28 this year.

Ungi is represented by Laura Jane Miller while Katy Appleton appeared on behalf of Murphy.
