“Horse was hit with force on each side by [other] horses: ruptured suspensory, fractured sesamoid.” Royal had just turned two, and this was her very first race.

“Horse went down, rolled three times: compound fracture – visible break; external bleeding.” J R was nine, and this was his 41st time under the whip.

“Fractured sesamoid.” Lethal was five.

Famous King, Jun 20, Ruidoso R (same race as two horses above)
“Broke both front legs.” Again, that’s both front legs. Famous was five.

“Fractured knee.” Bp was two.

“Fell: lumbar fracture.” One Famous was two.

“Vanned off to test barn, [then] dropped and died.” Candys was three.

“Colic, died.” Flying was two and had been raced Jun 27.

“Bled [pulmonary hemorrhage], died in ambulance.” Shaykin was two.
