Gary Rowett is set to take Birmingham City promotion hero Ben Davies to Oxford United.
That’s according to the Daily Mail who claim the centre-back will today complete a season-long loan deal.
The move comes amid speculation that Blues might try to bring the former Liverpool man back from Rangers having spent last season at St Andrew’s @Knighthead Park.
Davies, who has another year left on his contract at Ibrox, has barely played for the Gers in the last two campaigns, instead spending last term with Blues.
Indeed the 30-year-old came in and displaced club captain Krystian Bielik and ended up making 44 appearances as the club swept aside all-comers en route to the League One title.
Chris Davies never completely dismissed the prospect of Blues making an attempt to bring the Cumbrian back to Blues on a permanent basis but that never really came to fruition.
Instead he is set to team up with ex-Birmingham boss Rowett, who returns to St Andrew’s with Oxford on Saturday, for remainder of 2025/26.
Davies has also played for Preston and spent 14 months at Anfield but never played for the Reds.
