The composer and playwright, best-known for his Tony and Olivier award-winning rap musical about American founding father Alexander Hamilton, shared on his Instagram a series of pictures, and a video, of him and others on the Royal Mile during the festival.
Miranda was in the Scottish capital to perform Freestyle Love Supreme Vegas, a comedy musical group which started during rehearsal breaks for Miranda’s first Broadway musical, In the Heights.
The group played its final performance in January 2023. In throwback images, fellow Hamilton star Christopher Jackson, who played George Washington, can also be seen.
Miranda said he hoped “all of you in Edinburgh are having so much fun this August”. The Edinburgh Fringe team replied to the post writing, “welcome back anytime!”.
The full caption reads: “Best summer of our lives 20 years ago this month, performing at the @edfringe with @freestylelovesupreme.
“We had to go out and busk in the streets and earn every audience member and earn every bit of word of mouth. Hope all of you in Edinburgh are having so much fun this August.

In the Heights, which started in went to Broadway, opening in March 2008.
It was nominated for 13 Tonys, winning four, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. It also won the Grammy.
When on holiday in 2008, that is when Miranda thought of the idea for Hamilton after reading biography of Alexander Hamilton. He went on to wrote a rap about Hamilton that he performed for the White House Evening of Poetry, Music, and the Spoken Word in 2009 and the show in 2015.
When is Hamilton in Glasgow in 2025?
Hamilton will be showing at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow from Wednesday, October 29 until Saturday, December 27 in 2025 as part of a new tour across UK and Ireland.
